Avondale

City of Avondale was founded in 1840 as a 280 acre homestead by cowboy Billy Moore, Avondale was a pit stop on the main thoroughfare for folks racing to the “Golden Coast” throughout the 19th century. Avondale incorporated in 1946, and is now a city of over 70,000 residents, projected to reach 123,000 by 2020, and 170,000 people by build-out. In addition to the many cultural, economic, recreational and educational resources in Avondale, its greatest claim to fame is the 78,484 seat Phoenix International Raceway which plays host to nearly 400,000 NASCAR enthusiasts each year.

Avondale is 54 square miles, centered around the intersection of the Interstate 10 and Loop 101 freeways, which has developed as a mecca for power retail centers, an extensive auto mall, hotels, restaurants, business parks, and more. The city is evolving to meet the growing local demand for employment with an emerging medical corridor, offices, business parks, and light manufacturing.
